As the Ceremonial Supervisor for the Chancellor of Universitas Samudra, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hamdani, M.T., IPM, the flag hoisting ceremony commenced with the Red and White Flag being raised while the National Anthem of Indonesia Raya played, accompanied by the ceremonial officials.
Following the flag hoisting, the Chancellor led a moment of silence, “Cipta,” to commemorate the services of the heroes who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for independence and in defending the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia, especially the Heroes of Education.
Subsequently, all participants of the ceremony participated in the reading of the Pancasila Manuscript, followed by the reading of the Manuscript of the 1945 Constitution of the Republic of Indonesia, led by the ceremonial officials.
In his address, the Chancellor of Universitas Samudra read the Written Message of the President of the Republic of Indonesia on the Commemoration of the Birth of Pancasila, dated 1 June 2023. The message highlighted that the Indonesian nation expresses praise and gratitude to God Almighty for His blessings upon the country. The nation’s solid foundation is none other than the ideology of Pancasila, which has successfully united the people of Indonesia.
“In the midst of the various crises afflicting the world, such as health, food, energy, and financial challenges, Indonesia stands out as one of the few countries that has effectively managed to address them. Our nation’s economic, social, and political conditions remain stable and have even grown stronger. We have successfully controlled inflation, witnessed growth in investments, and seen a rise in job opportunities.”
Mr. President emphasizes that all these achievements are both a gift from God Almighty and the outcome of the collective effort of every citizen of our nation. “Our unity and solidarity have made us resilient in the face of challenges and capable of achieving remarkable breakthroughs. Through hard work and mutual cooperation, Indonesia has gained the trust and respect of the global community.”
“The underlying foundation for all these successes is the ideology of Pancasila, which was bequeathed to us by our Founding Fathers, notably the first President of the Republic of Indonesia, Ir. Soekarno. This ideology serves as the bedrock of our society, nation, and state, which we must steadfastly uphold to further strengthen the progress of our nation.”
Moreover, the government and all sectors of our nation are steadfast in their commitment to achieve a just, equitable, and prosperous Indonesia-centered development. We are working diligently to develop suburban areas, border regions, and villages. Structural reforms, along with the enhancement of human resources’ quality and industrialization, form part of our major programs aimed at ensuring the welfare of all citizens and ensuring equitable distribution.
“This is a struggle that has been passed down from one generation to another, requiring continuous efforts and perseverance. This struggle must never cease.”
The ideology of Pancasila has instilled values of tolerance, courage, and respect for diversity, making Indonesia acknowledged and respected on the global stage. Even amid intense geopolitical tensions, Indonesia remains committed to contributing to world peace, acting as a meeting point and a bridge for differences, just as we demonstrated during our past G20 presidency. Additionally, Indonesia’s chairmanship in ASEAN will further strengthen unity and serve as an anchor of peace and prosperity in the ASEAN region.
“This exemplifies that Pancasila is not solely essential for Indonesia; it holds relevance for the entire world. Tolerance, unity, and cooperation are the keys to building a strong nation and creating a peaceful and prosperous world.”
In this message, the President also urges all components of our nation to come together, reject extremism, refrain from politicizing identity and religion, and denounce all forms of provocation.
“Let us embrace the democratic process with maturity and joy while upholding Pancasila. Together, let us strive for Indonesia 2045’s vision, aiming to become an advanced nation that is just, prosperous, equitable, and held in high regard on the global stage.”
