Langsa – A total of 598 Prospective New Student participants participated in the 2023 Independent Path of Computer-Based Writing Examination (UTBK) at the UTBK Center of PTN Samudra University (Unsam) on Monday, July 3, 2023.
The PTN Entrance Selection through the Independent Test is being conducted simultaneously by the PTN SMM Committee – Western Region in 2023, starting today. Samudra University, as one of the universities in the PTN West Region, is hosting the UTBK SMM PTN – West 2023 over 2 days, from July 3rd to July 4th, 2023.
The Unsam Independent Test-Path (UTBK) took place in five locations, namely the Rectorate Bureau Building, Floor 2 (Computer Lab 1 and Computer Lab 2); Faculty of Agriculture Computers Lab; Faculty of Engineering Computers Lab (Network Lab, Multimedia Room); FKIP Computer Lab, and Faculty of Economics Computer Lab.
The Chancellor of Samudra University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hamdani, M.T., IPM, along with Unsam’s Deputy Chancellor for Academic Affairs, Dr. Ir. Cut Mulyani, M.P., announced that UTBK Mandiri was conducted in two sessions: a morning session and an afternoon session. The morning session was held from 06:45 AM to 10:30 AM WIB, while the afternoon session took place from 12:30 PM to 04:15 PM WIB. Participants in UTBK Mandiri 2023 were required to bring their Participant Identification Cards.
The UTBK material that will be tested includes a scholastic potential test that comprises general reasoning abilities, quantitative abilities, general knowledge, understanding, mastery of basic mathematics, and the ability to comprehend reading and writing.
In addition, there are also literacy tests in Indonesian and English, along with a Mathematical Reasoning Test.
A total of 598 prospective new student participants were registered to take part in the Independent Pathway UTBK at Unsam. Participation in UTBK is a requirement for entrance into State Universities (PTN). This selection pathway is open to students graduating in 2021, 2022, and 2023 from secondary education (SMA/MA/SMK/equivalent), as well as package C graduates.
The Deputy Chancellor hopes that the Independent Pathway UTBK currently taking place at Unsam will run smoothly and orderly.
In this selection process, as stated in Minister of Education and Culture Regulation No. 48 of 2022, there will no longer be restrictions on graduates from social science and natural science schools. Both groups have equal opportunities to choose study programs based on Science and Technology or Social Humanities, irrespective of whether the prospective student has a background in social studies or science (as quoted from the Press Release of the Independent Selection Committee for Entrance to Indonesian State Universities in the Western Region (SMM PTN-West 2023) at the official launch of the SMM PTN-West 2023 Program).
