Langsa – Universitas Samudra has achieved a notable distinction by being selected as the main cluster university, earning the title of having the Most Proposals for DRTPM Grants in the Community Service Category for the year 2023. This announcement was made by Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Faiz Syuaib, M.Agr, the Director of Research, Technology, and Community Service (DRTPM) at the Directorate General of College and Research and Technology.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Faiz Syuaib shared this information during his presentation at the contract signing ceremony for DRTPM research projects, which was held at the Santika Hotel in Depok, Jakarta, on Monday, June 19, 2023. He further mentioned that a total of 6,441 research proposals and 897 community service proposals were approved for funding.
A total of 28,404 research proposals were submitted through the BIMA website, and after administrative selection, 28,353 proposals were deemed eligible by LPPM (Institute for Research, Community Service, and Quality Assurance). Out of these, 6,441 research proposals were selected for funding.
Among the funded proposals, 2,003 came from State University of Legal Entities (PTN-BH), 971 from State Universities (PTN), and 3,471 from Private Universities.
The funding schemes encompass various research categories, including:
- Doctoral dissertation research.
- Novice lecturer research.
- Fundamental – regular research.
- Domestic collaborative research.
- Downstream applied research.
- Master’s thesis research.
In the Community Service category, a total of 6,854 proposals were submitted for consideration. Among these, 897 proposals successfully passed the selection process. These approved proposals were distributed as follows:
– 85 proposals from Legal Entity State Universities (PTN-BH).
– 189 proposals from State Universities (PTN).
– 623 proposals from Private Universities (PTS).
The community service activities encompass various schemes, including:
- Community-based empowerment schemes.
- Entrepreneurship-based empowerment.
- Area-based empowerment.
Within the category of Recipients of the Most Proposal Titles for Community Service, there are five Clusters, namely:
- Independent Cluster.
- Main Cluster.
- Intermediate Cluster.
- Primary Cluster.
- Development Cluster.
Universitas Samudra has earned a place among the top 5 Main Cluster Universities with the Most Proposal Titles for Community Service Substance in 2023. They secured 16 Proposal Titles that successfully passed the selection process, according to the announcement of the 2023 DRTPM selection results. In second place was Indonesian Muslim University with 15 proposal titles, followed by Telkom Institute of Technology Purwokerto with 14 proposal titles, Mahasaraswati University Denpasar with 13 proposal titles, and Muhammadyah University Magelang with 13 proposal titles.
Prof. Dr. Ir. Muhammad Faiz Syuaib, M.Agr, in his remarks, extended congratulations to the researchers and volunteers who have been granted funding for research and community service in the 2023 fiscal year. He expressed hope that the research and community service activities would yield significant benefits for the community and the nation of Indonesia.
Dr. Asnawi, M. Pd, who serves as the Chair of the Institute for Research, Community Service, and Quality Assurance (LPPM and PM) at Unsam, remarked, “The Directorate General of Higher Education, through the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service (DRTPM), has officially announced the recipients of funding for research and community service programs for the year 2023. These awards cover both research and community service proposals.”
He further noted, “The dedicated lecturers at have been honored with 11 research proposal grants and 16 Community Service proposal grants for the 2023 DRTPM Grant, totaling 27 proposals. Consequently, has achieved the distinction of being the primary cluster tertiary institution to receive the most grants in the Community Service Proposal Category for 2023.”
He continued to explain that the program’s execution took place through the BIMA (Research and Community Service Information Base) website, covering the entire process from proposal submission to the announcement of selection results, the Establishment of funding recipients, and the subsequent reporting of activities.
Dr. Asnawi elaborated that this achievement in 2023 was the result of long efforts and processes. Prior to the submission of proposals through the BIMA application, activities like proposal clinics were conducted, along with data-sharing programs related to research activities. These initiatives aimed to encourage lecturers to submit proposals to DRTPM. “This accomplishment would not have been possible without the unwavering support of Prof. Dr. Ir. Hamdani, M.T., IPM, the Chancellor of, as well as the strong collaboration and active participation of our academic community and lecturers,” stated the Head of LPPM-PM Unsam.
Additionally, Dr. Asnawi highlighted that during the event, (Unsam) was represented by the Head of the Institute for Research, Community Service, and Quality Assurance (LPPM and PM) Unsam, who signed a Research and Community Service Contract with the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service of the Directorate of Research and Technology.
