Langsa – Coinciding with Eid al-Adha 1444 H/2023 AD, Universitas Samudra (Unsam) conducted the Qurban ritual by slaughtering 25 sacrificial animals. This included 23 cattle and 2 goats at the Unsam-Merandeh Campus on Thursday, June 29, 2023.
Dr. Rachmatsyah, M.Pd, the Deputy Chancellor for General Affairs and Finance of Unsam, served as the Chair of the Qurban implementation committee. He mentioned that the qurban animal slaughtering commenced at 09:00 WIB. The event was attended by all leadership elements at Unsam, participants of the qurban, qurban committee members, lecturers, and Unsam staff.
“Alhamdulillah, this year we were able to slaughter 25 sacrificial animals, comprising 23 cattle and 2 goats. These qurban animals were contributed by 163 individuals, including employees, lecturers, and Educational Staff who are part of the Universitas Samudra extended family.”
Furthermore, it was mentioned that on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, four qurban animals had already been distributed to Pemko Langsa and three villages around Unsam. These villages are Meurandeh Dayah village, Meurandeh Teungoh village, and Meurandeh Kloneng village.
The remaining qurban animals were slaughtered at Unsam, and the qurban meat will be distributed to all staff, employees, and lecturers who are part of the Universitas Samudra extended family.
“We have prepared approximately 1,314 coupons for collecting qurban meat from Unsam,” he further explained.
“Qurban is a manifestation of our obedience to Allah in fulfilling His commands. We hope that this sacrifice will bring blessings into our lives and serve as a virtuous deed for our hereafter. Additionally, the unity displayed during this activity will continue to strengthen our bonds and friendships at Universitas Samudra,” stated the Head of the Committee. (Unsam Humas)
