LangsaUniversitas Samudra (Unsam) conducted the official release of the Universitas Samudra Contingent as part of the Regional Student Sports Week (Pomda) to Malikussaleh University at the Unsam Meurandeh Multi-Purpose Building on Friday, September 15, 2023.

The formal release ceremony was presided over by the Chancellor of Universitas Samudra, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hamdani, M.T., IPM, and represented by the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Muhammad Zulfri, S.T., M.M., M.T., IPM. In his report, Mr. Zulfan, S.H., M.Si., M.H., the committee chairman, announced that this year’s Pomda would feature 16 sports disciplines. Universitas Samudra, in turn, would be participating in 12 of these sporting branches, with a total of 86 participants. 

 

The distribution of participants in each sport is as follows: 

  • Athletics (8 participants), 
  • Taekwondo (6 participants), 
  • Kempo (2 participants), 
  • Chess (4 participants), 
  • Badminton (6 participants),
  • Karate (8 participants),
  • Pencak Silat (8 participants), 
  • Swimming (5 participants),
  • Men’s Basketball (12 participants), 
  • Men’s Beach Volleyball (4 participants), 
  • Women’s Beach Volleyball (4 participants), 
  • Futsal (14 participants).

 

In his speech, the Vice Chancellor mentioned that during last year’s Pomda event, Unsam had the privilege of hosting, and Alhamdulillah, the students exhibited high-quality performances. He expressed his hope that for this year’s Pomda event, which will be held at Unimal, the students would also demonstrate exceptional skills. He wished that Unsam could attain at least the same level of success as last year and ideally secure an opportunity to participate in Pomnas.

The Vice-Chancellor encouraged the participants to support each other across different sports by rallying behind their respective teams. The overarching goal of this Pomda is to achieve victory and excel at Unimal, and he emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on their respective events throughout the competition.

The Vice Chancellor continued, “Let’s show that Unsam can exemplify sportsmanship and maintain a high standard of play during the matches. It’s crucial that we follow the specified rules and heed the instructions of our coaches. With this approach, I believe we can uphold the good name of Universitas Samudra.” (Unsam Humas)
