Langsa- Universitas Samudra (UNSAM) conducted a graduation ceremony for the undergraduate programs of the first period in 2023 at the Multipurpose Hall on Wednesday, 17/5/2023. The ceremony was held under the theme “Producing Quality Graduates, Creating a Superior Generation.”
During the event, a total of 622 undergraduate students from various faculties within Universitas Samudra were conferred their degrees through an open assembly. The breakdown of graduates from each faculty is as follows: Faculty of Law (55 graduates), Faculty of Economics (90 graduates), Faculty of Agriculture (52 graduates), Faculty of Teaching and Education Sciences (313 graduates), and Faculty of Engineering (112 graduates). Among all the graduates, 10 individuals achieved the distinction of graduating with honors or cum laude.
During his speech, the Chancellor extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the graduates for their remarkable achievements. He expressed his hope that the graduates would continue to nurture their enthusiasm for learning, embodying the philosophy of “lifelong learning” as part of their journey as Universitas Samudra alumni. Recognizing the future challenges in an increasingly competitive job market, the Chancellor advised, “The knowledge acquired during your time at Universitas Samudra serves as a foundation to be applied in your future work endeavors. Through your dedication, patience, and hard work, coupled with the unwavering support of your families, the positive changes in your lives are becoming increasingly evident before our eyes.”
Moreover, the Chancellor proudly announced that Universitas Samudra has achieved a “Very Good” accreditation rating, as per the Decree of the Director of the Executive Board of BAN-PT Number 265/SK/Ban-PT/Ak.KP/PT/IV/2023. This accreditation signifies that Universitas Samudra stands on equal footing with esteemed institutions in Aceh Province and across Indonesia as a whole.
Over the past decade, Universitas Samudra has made significant contributions as a state university dedicated to serving the nation. Despite its relatively young age, the university has consistently achieved notable accomplishments across various fields, particularly in fulfilling the tri-dharma (three pillars) of higher education. Universitas Samudra boasts 26 Study Programs and 5 Faculties, all of which have received Excellent accreditation. Notably, in 2022, the Biology Education Study Program and Geography Education Study Program are set to receive Excellent accreditation as well.
Furthermore, in 2023, UNSAM secured the Revitalization Grant for Education Institutions and Education Personnel (LPTK) and successfully established the Teacher Professional Education Study Program. This achievement was realized through the Decree of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia Number 205/E/O/2023. These milestones further highlight the commitment and dedication of Universitas Samudra to providing quality education and advancing the field of teacher professional development.
Universitas Samudra takes pride in possessing highly qualified human resources across various fields. The university is home to 333 lecturers, among whom 53 hold doctoral degrees and 282 hold master’s degrees. Additionally, 22 lecturers from different study programs are currently pursuing further studies at domestic and foreign universities, with an expected completion date of next year.
Furthermore, it is worth noting that Universitas Samudra has achieved a commendable position in the UI Green Metric World University Ranking. Currently ranked 63rd nationally, the university demonstrates its commitment to sustainable practices and environmental responsibility.
